Today, modern information and communication systems act as the central nervous system of companies and non-profit organizations by supporting the coordination of business processes and decision-making. The integrative character of the systems ensures smooth processes and thus helps to save time and money. In the face of global competition, managing and controlling a company today would be unthinkable without such IT support. From a scientific point of view, business informatics is an independent discipline that has distinct intersections with business administration and computer science and increasingly addresses other stakeholder groups such as public administration, politics and private individuals. The focus of research and teaching at Chemnitz Business Informatics is the development of innovative concepts in the areas of business intelligence, big data, business process management and Web 2.0.

Due to the varied training, interesting challenges arise for graduates on the German and international job market wherever information has to be processed. Fields of activity can be found in manufacturing and processing industry, in trade, in banks and insurance companies, in service, consulting and software companies as well as in the public sector.
The broad spectrum of Chemnitz business informatics, combined with the soft skills taught, enables graduates to work in a wide range of areas, for example as specialists and managers in the following areas:
- Business Process Design
- System Analysis
- Organizational development
- Information management and controlling
- IT Management
- IT consulting
Учебный план программы обучения "Business Information Systems"
The main components of the course are divided into a three-stage study model. It includes
- a basic phase, which offers training in the form of an overview of the important knowledge components of the subjects concerned,
- an advanced phase, which in particular consolidates and expands the understanding of the central areas of competence of a business IT specialist, as well as
- a final phase, which primarily includes the exemplary application of the acquired skills to selected questions (project internship and bachelor thesis).
The course is rounded off by an economics-oriented language training and the teaching of subject-related social skills.
The teaching areas of the bachelor's degree in business informatics are divided into modules. Each module is a self-contained teaching unit with defined goals, content, and forms of teaching and learning.
