Whether a large company wants to communicate a merger process or a regional tourism association is looking for a new concept for successfully addressing target groups - the following always applies: communication is a management task - and management is a communication task.

Students in the Communication Management (B.A.) course acquire the necessary knowledge and the essential tools to control all processes of external and internal communication in organizations . In addition to the basics of PR conception, press and media work, journalism and business administration, there are insights into various fields of communication management (e.g. CEO communication, risk communication or employee communication), empirical communication research, communication psychology or current specializations in the professional field (e.g. litigation PR or communication in the political arena). Offers such as campus TV or campus radio, which are produced in our own studio, complete the program.

The Bachelor's degree in "Communication Management" is very practical. That is why three mandatory internships are integrated into the course.

  • Two internships with a duration of at least nine weeks in the area of ​​organizational communication / public relations / public relations

During these practical phases, which are intensively supported by the university, the students get to know everyday working life, look over the shoulder of the professionals, reflect on the knowledge they have learned and apply it. Especially for the wide range of applications of communication management, internships offer the opportunity to orientate yourself in the future field of activity. Which career path am I particularly interested in? What are my strengths? Which knowledge and skills do I need for which tasks? An internship brings the students closer to the answers to these and similar questions and offers the opportunity to make initial contacts for later career entry.

The students find internships for the two larger internships at agencies, commercial enterprises, non-profit organizations, associations and authorities as well as at public or cultural institutions.

For insights into everyday journalism, media companies such as B. daily newspapers, radio and TV stations, content providers in the online sector, but also internal institute projects such as Campus TV, Campus Radio or wo-ist-eigentlich-lingen.de.

The students of the Bachelor's degree in Communication Management are intensively prepared and supervised around the compulsory internship by the internship representatives from the group of professors and by the internship office.

The Bachelor's degree in Communication Management has a standard period of six semesters and is divided into a compulsory and an elective area. The first two semesters consist of compulsory modules in which the basics of communication management are taught. From the third semester, the compulsory modules are supplemented by elective modules.

The students have the opportunity to choose between three areas of focus: conception and project management, strategic online communication and internal communication / employee communication. Three compulsory internships are planned during lecture-free periods. The course is concluded with a scientific project and a bachelor thesis, which can be prepared in cooperation with a company or another organization.
