Программа обучения "Digital Engineering" в Bauhaus-Universität Weimar

Digital Engineering

The use of digitally networked systems is progressing in all industrial sectors. The developments that can currently be observed under the buzzword Industry 4.0 are essentially based on the continuous digital mapping of all steps of the value chain of industrial production. From the planning phase through design/draft and the production process to the lifecycle monitoring of the products (e.g. also buildings), virtual product and process models are networked with each other in order to accelerate development processes, increase the quality of the products and optimize production processes. These developments therefore require well-trained specialists who work at the interface between computer science and engineering. The course created jointly by civil engineering and media informatics at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar will provide you with flexible and interdisciplinary training for the challenges of tomorrow's professional world. In the Digital Engineering Master’s degree, we attach great importance to introducing you to current research questions early on, which are defined and supervised together with industrial partners, via projects accompanying your studies. The Digital Bauhaus Lab, as a state-of-the-art research facility of the university, offers the best conditions for this.

Описание программы обучения "Digital Engineering"

Study location Weimar

Despite its small size and its picture-book character - Weimar is not a sleepy provincial town. Whether for art and culture lovers, night owls or gourmets - in addition to Goethe, Schiller and the Bauhaus, Weimar has a lot more to offer. And all this in a city center where nothing is more than a 10-minute walk from one another. And the two largest Thuringian cities, Erfurt and Jena, are each only 15 minutes by train.

The many small and large initiatives - temporary showrooms, project workshops, university gallery marke.6, the soap box race SpaceKidHeadCup initiated by students - expand the cultural spectrum of the large institutions Klassik Stiftung Weimar, German National Theater, Buchenwald Memorial, Goethe House, Bauhaus Museum and ACC Gallery. Four cinemas, several cabaret stages, more than 20 other museums and various student clubs and concert events still impressively underline Weimar's importance as the European Capital of Culture in 1999.

And there are also many opportunities for student initiatives: For example, you can support the interests of your fellow students in the student council. Or you can become part of the Maschinenraum - the initiative for programming, soldering, discussing and repairing computers.

  • System integrator
  • Technical Manager
  • Consultant for digitization concepts
  • Software developer
  • Engineer product development
  • Research and Development

Ожидаемые результаты программы обучения "Digital Engineering"

The digitization of our living and working environment is progressing faster and faster. With the help of complex simulation environments and the use of virtual models, industrial development cycles are shortened and manufacturing processes are optimized at the same time. The Industry 4.0 revolution is creating a growing need for academic specialists in interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary areas.

With your Master's degree at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar, we prepare you for the challenges of the future: Graduates of the Digital Engineering course have a high degree of competence in recognizing engineering and methodological relationships, in the possibilities of engineering computer-based modeling of these relationships based on various model concepts and in the presentation and interpretation of complex results for different stakeholders. You will thus occupy a key position in the digitization of our society.

As a highly qualified manager, you will help shape the developments of our networked society 4.0 and drive them forward. Their diverse application possibilities include computer-aided processes at the interfaces to civil engineering, aerospace engineering, the automotive industry, plant and mechanical engineering and the consumer goods sector.

You will learn these skills during your studies

• Recognition and understanding of engineering problems at the interface to IT
• Spatial, temporal and financial modelling, as well as the digital representation and application of models.
• Simulation of processes and structures
• Visualization and analysis of large amounts of data
• Development, construction and operation of complex, technical products and systems
• Flexibility in thought patterns and model associations
• In-depth knowledge of different model concepts
• Presentation and interpretation of complex results for different stakeholders

Учебный план программы обучения "Digital Engineering"

The master’s degree in Digital Engineering comprises 120 ECTS and is completed after four semesters of standard study time. In the first two semesters, all students are brought to a uniform level of knowledge as part of the fundamentals. You will be offered compulsory and elective courses that cover the two core areas of computer science and (civil) engineering. Depending on your previous knowledge, we will put together an individual module plan for you, which is either more engineering or IT-based.

From the second semester you will deepen your specialist knowledge in the three areas of modelling, simulation and validation and visualization and data science. Within each area you have the opportunity to choose from compulsory elective courses and thus to set individual priorities. The range of courses is supplemented by a research project with practice partners and by elective modules from the faculties of media and civil engineering or the language center of the Bauhaus University Weimar. In the fourth semester you will write and defend your master's thesis. You will be supported by the professors and external partners from industry and advised in consultations.
