In Dessau, the city of the Bauhaus, we meet the complex issues of a world in transition with progressive design approaches. Here – then as now – it becomes apparent on many levels what our society will have to do with in the future.

Our "Dessau model" of integrated design is part of an avant-garde tradition. The design disciplines act in a network here in order to process fundamental questions and design holistically effective interventions. 100 minutes away from Berlin we are working on one of the most exciting international laboratories for the future.

Integrated design means breaking down the classic boundaries between the design disciplines of communication, product and media design, ignoring traditional divisions and developing better solutions using new approaches. Because: “Problems respect no borders”, Charles Eames, the American design legend, already knew. And more than ever, today's job descriptions require interdisciplinary skills and complex thinking.

The unique selling point of the design course in Dessau is the freedom to choose and combine the design disciplines. After the basic training, the students form their own individual study profiles, which promote personal talents and in which their own talents can be discovered. They are free to focus on design disciplines or to study interdisciplinary.
