More details about Faculty 10: Economics and Social Sciences:

Modern societies are increasingly confronted with demographic, economic, technological and cultural change processes. Societal areas such as economics, politics, law, education and sports are each subject to development dynamics of their own, but they also influence one another. The actors involved in these areas depend on insights from the economic and social sciences to adequately understand and, if necessary, control development processes, and to be able to act effectively, efficiently, scientifically based and ethically legitimated. At the same time, the requirements for the production of economic and social science findings are growing with an increasingly complex (world) society.

The Faculty 10 sees its task in the economic and social sciences to achieve cognitive progress, which take into account this increasing social complexity. In particular, the research focuses on the central research priorities of the University of Stuttgart "Complex Systems and Communication" as well as "Modeling and Simulation Technology" as well as on the resulting main topics "Mobility" and "Designing Sustainable Habitats"; For research subjects such as companies, markets, economies, political and educational organizations, and sports organizations can be understood as social systems in which people are communicatively involved in the form of mental and biological systems. The description, explanation and goal-oriented control of these complex social, psychological and biological systems represents the common core of the research of Faculty 10. Depending on the research question, the research activities take the form of individual research as well as disciplinary and interdisciplinary collaborative research. In teaching, the faculty offers a variety of courses to meet the different demands of business and society.

The today's fan cut of the faculty 10 developed in the course of the last structural reform of the University of Stuttgart in October 2002.
