Our Faculty of Architecture and Urban Studies offers you a universal education with the two fields of study architecture and urban studies as well as other study programs. Here you will learn the skills and abilities for a creative, self-determined study of design and scientific work, so that you can open up almost infinite professional and operational fields nationally and internationally. Our two bachelor's degrees in architecture and urban studies provide the basic tools you need to start your career. Our master’s programs with a focus on the current fields of architecture and urban planning round off your training.

At one of the largest architecture faculties in Germany, you will be individually supervised and supported by 22 international professors and their staff on your way to successfully completing your degree. Long-term relationships as well as international exchange programs with selected partner universities offer you the best possible conditions for valuable academic and personal experience abroad and thus also optimal conditions to work in renowned offices around the world as a graduate of the Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism and thus to be part of an international community be.

Under the umbrella of the Bauhaus University Weimar, the Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism sees itself as a universal and experimental space. Here you study, reinvent yourself and life again and again. Research-oriented design and project studies are at the center of our teaching - real design tasks as well as interdisciplinary experiments form the elementary basis. We convey architecture and urbanism as a complex relationship between the understanding of history and the formation of theory, design and reflection, experiment and science, as well as craft and high-tech. The close connection between architecture and city creates the special and contemporary profile in which the design is at the center of holistic considerations of the built and designed environment.

At our faculty, with its numerous locations with different atmospheres and milieus close to one another, well-equipped work rooms, modern model making workshops, computer pools and a digital image laboratory offer you the best conditions for concentrated work on your designs and for the successful completion of your studies. Your education at the Faculty of Architecture and Urban Studies benefits from networking with the other Faculties of Civil Engineering, Design and Media and thus from the diversity of the artistic and scientific profile at the Bauhaus University Weimar.

The Faculty of Architecture and Urban Studies is just as active in the research sector as it is in the development of new building and planning concepts. In addition to the organization of numerous regional to international conferences and specialist meetings, our faculty also influences construction activity in the city of Weimar. This ranges from the development and intensive support of a model estate inspired by the Bauhaus to numerous excellent buildings by professors and graduates. As a result, the city of Weimar, previously known primarily for its historical buildings, has now also become famous for its modern architecture - in short: a pleasant place where you can live architecture.
