The institutes represented in the faculty pursue a broad spectrum of scientific questions - both independently and interdisciplinary, with the promotion of scientific cooperation within the faculty being a high priority.

The Faculty is divided into a total of five institutes. These are: The Institute of Educational Science, the Institute of Ethnology and the Department of Ethnology at the South Asia Institute, the Institute of Gerontology, the Institute of Psychology and the Institute of Sport and Sports Science.

Institute of Education: Educational science deals with the theory and practice of education. It analyzes the links between education and education and develops perspectives for improved education and educational practice.

Department of Ethnology and South Asia Institute, Department of Ethnology: Ethnology is a descriptive, empirical and field-research-oriented, comparative cultural and social science. Their research goal is to make dynamic cultural and social processes as well as the action contexts and motives of the explorers comprehensible to outsiders.

Institute of Gerontology: Gerontology deals with phenomena of aging and old things apart. It examines the psychological, social, historical and cultural aspects of aging and aging. There is a great deal of research interest in the analysis of the challenges older people in today's world are confronted with as well as the forms of public and private dealing with the finiteness and vulnerability of human life.

Psychological Institute: At the center of psychology is man. It examines human experience and behavior, its evolution in the course of life, and all relevant internal and external causes and conditions.

Institute of Sports and Sports Science: At the Institute for Sport and Sports Science Sport and sports science analyzes problems and phenomena in the field of sport and physical activity. Sports science is interdisciplinary and draws on a number of other sciences. For this reason, the research operation of the institute is diversified.
