The Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences has been the umbrella for the four departments of Economics, Public Management, Social Work and Nursing and Management for over ten years. The four departments are all located near the Berliner Tor campus of the HAW Hamburg, the Public Management and Economics departments in the main building, Berliner Tor 5, and the Social Work and Nursing and Management departments in the nearby Alexanderstrasse 1.

The Public Management Department offers a dual degree program in cooperation with the Senate of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg. The B.Sc. and M.Sc. degree programs in the Economics Department prepare students for business management tasks in international companies and organizations. The degree programs in the Social Work and Nursing & Management Departments are characterized by scientific foundations coupled with a high degree of practical relevance, which is also ensured by internships integrated into the course. The final theses through BA and/or MA theses also focus on knowledge transfer through cooperation with practical institutions.
