The Faculty 15 of the TU Dortmund, until 2001 Department of Linguistics and Literature, Journalism and History, has changed this additive name after a publicly negotiated process of self-understanding in Faculty of Cultural Studies to the context of their four subjects English / American Studies, German Language and Literature, To express history and journalism.
The constitutive term "culture" makes it clear that all of its subjects explain and interpret phenomena caused by human beings, which are subject to change and differ from culture to culture. Interculturality in learning and information processes is a focus of research.
The Faculty of Cultural Studies maintains intensive cooperation with universities in Europe and North America. With her reformed study programs for future teachers, journalists and other cultural professions, she has devoted herself to modern, practice-oriented teaching.
