The Faculty of Engineering and Computer Science offers future-oriented study programs with a high degree of practical application in a wide range of engineering and computer science. In addition to training, practice-oriented research and technology transfer are very important to us. All members are offered free space for research and independent work, often supplemented by supportive support.
Interdisciplinary cooperation and worldwide cooperation give us valuable innovation impulses for teaching and research. This enables us to provide our students with practical knowledge and skills for working life and to promote the growth of the Hamburg metropolitan region. The faculty bundles all classical disciplines of engineering. It is the largest faculty of HAW Hamburg and is divided into four departments:
- Department Automotive Engineering and Aircraft Construction
- Department of Computer Science
- Department Information and Electrical Engineering
- Department of Mechanical Engineering and Production
The study programs of the Faculty of Engineering and Computer Science deal with the important social topics of mobility, global networking and sustainable economy. Students are prepared for a career as technical managers, design engineers, development engineers and computer scientists. There are currently fifteen undergraduate degree programs, of which eleven are also offered in dual study, and ten master's programs.
In recent years, new, future-oriented laboratories have been opened in the areas of acoustics (wave field synthesis laboratory), ambient intelligence (Living Place), energy technology (ZET) and aeronautics (HCAT), in cooperation with medium-sized and large companies Development projects are being processed.
