Faculty of Engineering Science University of Bayreuth
Fakultät für Ingenieurwissenschaften (Universität Bayreuth)
Future engineers will receive a broad and well-grounded education during their studies at the Faculty of Engineering Science. The basic knowledge and methodical approach they learn will never go out of style. Professionals trained in this way will therefore remain influential in shaping the rapid technical developments in the future. Research and teaching are closely linked at our faculty. Our main research areas include process and energy technology, materials science, bio- and environmental technology, mechatronics, design theory, materials technology, electrical engineering, as well as production and processing technology.
More details about Faculty of Engineering Science:
Would you have thought that spider silk is five times as tear-resistant as steel and yet as elastic as rubber? This is just one of the many phenomena that the chairs of our engineering faculty in Bayreuth deal with.
We are curiously investigating the environment, biology or novel materials on an enormous spectrum. The research areas are on different materials, process engineering, energy technology as well as mechatronics and sensors.
Optimal conditions for research and teaching
Our engineering faculty is integrated into the nationwide unique concept of the TechnologieAllianzOberfranken (TAO) . The cooperation between the Universities of Bayreuth and Bamberg and the Universities of Applied Sciences Coburg and Hof bundles competencies in teaching, research and further education and uses valuable synergy effects. In this way we drive innovative projects with a wide variety of key topics, such as Energy and mobility with the cross-sectional topics of sensor technology, information technology, materials and the interface between people and technology. New focal points, such as the topic of "health" with the cross-sectional technologies of bioanalysis, food technologies and questions about the topic of water, are opened up. In Bayreuth run u. a. the threads in the Center for Materials Science and Technology and in the Center for Energy Technology come together.
"Learning by doing" at the highest level
Of course, the students also benefit from this collaboration. You will be involved in current engineering issues and can use an extensive range of additional exercises and tutorials. Well-equipped laboratories, small exercise groups and personal contact with the lecturers create optimal learning conditions.
