More details about Faculty of Law:
Goethe already studied here
The Law Faculty of the University of Leipzig is a modern faculty with a long tradition: teaching, research and studying have been taking place here since 1426. Numerous world-famous personalities, including Samuel Pufendorf, Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz and Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, are among the faculty's alumni.
The appreciation for a long tradition is combined with progressiveness, open-mindedness and diversity, which is just as important to the students as it is to the teachers. Both are also reflected in the content offered as well as in the faculty's broad research spectrum.
Studying at the faculty
At the Law Faculty, students have the opportunity to develop into responsible and reflective lawyers. The critical discourse as well as dealing with current and socially relevant issues are an important part of the training. The course at the faculty is targeted, focused and can be completed within the standard period of study. BAföG recipients particularly benefit from this.
The only study location with a study objective " First legal examination " in Saxony
In autumn 2016, the Saxon state government decided to concentrate legal training in the Free State in Leipzig. As a result, teaching was expanded by three professors from the Technical University of Dresden to the University of Leipzig for the 2017/18 winter semester. As a result of this restructuring, a total of nine new chairs will be created in the long term and the Leipzig Faculty of Law with 27 professorships will be one of the largest law faculties in a national comparison.
Free offers to prepare for the "First Legal Exam"
The tried and tested university repetitory of the Leipzig exam offensive (LEO) and the LEONIE exam course, which is offered from the 4th semester, also contribute to the success of your studies. The free offers to prepare for the "First Legal Examination" are co-designed by experienced professors and represent a real alternative to commercial revision courses.
From the Federal Court of Justice to the lecture hall
Leipzig is not only one of the most attractive student cities in Germany, but also an important judicial location: It is the seat of several regional courts, the Federal Administrative Court and two Senates of the Federal Court of Justice. Last but not least, the Law Faculty, at which some federal judges teach as honorary professors, benefits from these connections.
