Faculty of Law Hamburg University
Fakultät für Rechtswissenschaft (Universität Hamburg)
The University of Hamburg, the first democratically founded university in Germany, has had a law faculty since it was founded in 1919. From its inception, the Faculty of Law at the University of Hamburg has placed a strong emphasis on international law issues. With the Albrecht Mendelssohn Bartholdy Graduate School of Law, we are the first German law faculty to offer a structured, internationally oriented doctoral program. The competence in international issues also means that the Faculty of Law at the University of Hamburg is the consortium leader of the China-EU School of Law.
Today over 4,000 students are trained and supervised by 34 professors and around 80 academic staff.
The main building of the faculty is the law house on Rothenbaumchaussee, in which all facilities (professorships, faculty administration and central law library) can be found.
In its 58th meeting on December 17, 2014, the Faculty Council approved the mission statement for the Faculty of Law.
