Faculty of Law and Political Science University of Bonn

Rechts- und Staatswissenschaftliche Fakultät (Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn)

University of Bonn

On October 18, 1818, the Faculty of Law was founded at the University of Bonn. From the beginning, well-known legal scholars worked here to help shape the development of German law. In 1928, the political science section was spun off from the Faculty of Philosophy, which has since grown into its own department of economics and, together with the law department, forms the law and political science faculty.

More details about Faculty of Law and Political Science:

With the "Center for Advanced Studies in Law and Economics (CASTLE)" and the "Center for Economics and Neuroscience (CENs)", the Faculty of Law and Political Science has two future-oriented institutions. The CASTLE emerged from the cooperation of the two faculties of the faculty as an interdisciplinary institution. It includes academics from the faculties of law and economics as well as the Max Planck Institute for Research on Collective Goods. It is headed by Prof. Dr. Daniel Zimmer (law) and Urs Schweizer (economics). The interdisciplinary cooperation is also expressed in the "Law and Economics" course, which has been offered successfully since the winter semester 2012/13.

As the central scientific institution of the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn, the CEN was founded in 2009 under the direction of Armin Falk (http://www.cens.uni-bonn.de/the-center/neuroeconomics). The aim of this central scientific facility is to bring together knowledge and methods from the fields of neuroscience, personality genetics, medicine and economics with the aim of a deeper understanding of the biological foundations of human behavior, especially in economically relevant contexts, and the provision of the resources relevant to neuro-economic research as well as the creation of a platform for neuro-economic research in Germany and worldwide.
