More details about Faculty of Medicine:

The hospital is currently spread over several locations throughout the city, with most clinics already in the new hospital building at Lobeda. When all new buildings are occupied, the Department of Psychiatry and Psychotherapy and the Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, Psychosomatics and Psychotherapy will be the only areas of in-patient care that will remain at their location in downtown Jena.

There are a number of laboratories, seminar rooms and lecture theaters available for the training of 2,400 students in human medicine, dentistry and the Master's program Molecular Medicine. In Lobeda is the Medical Library with space for 111,000 volumes. In SkillsLab, prospective doctors can practice practical skills.

The clinic's hospital kitchen provides 5,500 portions of food a day for patients and employees, with two tons of food processed per day, including 1,000 rolls, 300 kilos of potatoes and 160 kilos of apples. Up to 8 tons of laundry are delivered to the hospital every day or leave it again for laundry. For the transport of all goods, food and also for waste disposal, the 24 transport robots used in the new building alone cover about 280 kilometers per day.
