Philosophische Fakultät (Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn)
With 9,000 students, the Faculty of Philosophy is the largest of the seven faculties of the University of Bonn. It comprises eleven institutes and nine centers of humanities and social sciences. The Faculty of Philosophy is also involved in three transfaculty centers. Three museums are affiliated to the faculty.
The faculty presents itself today as a complex combination of philosophical, historical, philological and social science disciplines. Through the research and teaching of recognized scholars, she occupies a prominent international position in the academic world.
The broad spectrum of available subjects is also evident in a large number of highly differentiated research projects. The eleven institutes also have a large number of research areas, such as area studies, antiquity and its heritage, the European Middle Ages in transcultural comparison, media discourse and media performance in history and present, Germany and Europe in a global context. In addition, places of coordinated research are the cross-institute centers of the Faculty of Philosophy.
