Plastics have an infinite number of faces. They can be soft, hard, brittle, tough, beautiful, inexpensive, light, transparent, insulating, conductive, environmentally friendly, dense and much more. That is why they are used in all areas of life. Whether it is sport, aerospace, automotive engineering, household, electronics, aircraft construction - can you think of an industry today that still manages without plastics?

But we usually don't even think about how much plastics accompany our lives. And often don't even know what they actually are. Regardless of whether we call them synthetics, plastic, polymers, elastomers or something else: it is always about long, thin molecules. Like tiny, ultra-long spaghetti, they can be ordered or tangled, hard or soft - and also sticky or rubbery (in which case they are "elastomers").

Because these plastics are so versatile, the number of applications has been increasing for decades: sports shoes, smartphones, wings, cosmetic brushes, wind turbines, motorcycle helmets, toothbrushes, prostheses. From simple and inexpensive to complex high-tech products: the plastics industry will continue to be a booming sector in the future, with exciting tasks and career fields to be found!
