More details about School of Engineering and Design:
In the context of an increasingly dynamic research and science landscape, TUM is systematically developing its transformation process with Agenda 2030. Bringing different faculties together in the ED facilitates collaborations and the strategic take-up of innovations in engineering and design. Following international best practice approaches, TUM is pursuing a fundamental reform to transform the faculty system into an innovation-promoting matrix organization consisting of schools and departments as well as interdisciplinary research centers (Corporate Research Centers, Integrative Research Centers). The Ed aims at establishing creative opportunities in research, education, and entrepreneurship, dynamize interaction potential, and maintaining the academic diversity and value-giving specifics of individual disciplinary cultures. Bringing different faculties together in the ED will facilitate the collaboration and strategic implementation of innovations in the fields of engineering and design. Supportive administrative and management systems at the school level improve quality, accelerate internal processes, and reduce the workload of researchers.
