At the preparatory college in Saxony, you have to take an entrance test before you can study with us.

You will receive the invitation to the entrance test at the preparatory college in Saxony from the International Office/Academic International Office of the university or college in the Free State of Saxony where you want to study. You must have a pre-approval for this. So you cannot register for the entrance test at the preparatory college in Saxony yourself.

The entrance test consists of a test in German. If you want to take a course in science, medicine or economics, you must also take a test in mathematics.

In both tests you are not allowed to use any aids. For you, this means dictionaries, pocket calculators, formularies and other helpers have to stay at home.

Every applicant at the preparatory college in Saxony must take the entrance test, even if they already have certificates. Exemption from the entrance test is not possible.

Admission test German:

The test consists of

• a test to determine general language proficiency (C-Test) and
• An admission interview to determine oral communication skills (approx. 20 minutes. (This interview only takes place if necessary on the day of enrolment.)

Mathematics entrance test

The test takes the form of an exam and lasts 30 minutes. In order to pass the test, the participant must obtain at least 50% of the achievable points.

If more participants pass the test than there are places in the corresponding specialization course, the number of points achieved will be used as an admission criterion.

A failed test can be repeated once, at the earliest in the admission period of the following semester.

Notes on content

Most of the tasks correspond to the mathematics level of secondary school I (about 10th grade). Few tasks correspond to the mathematics level of secondary school II/elementary school (Abitur).

• Apply properties of linear and quadratic functions
• Calculations on simple geometric figures
• Solving simple word problems
