Описание программы обучения "Aerospace Engineering"

Are you interested besides the basic question "why does an airplane fly?" for example also on how to improve the consumption and environmental impact of aircraft through modern construction or how modern satellites can help with climate observations of the earth? How are flight times improved through optimal routes or how can passengers best be handled at the airport? How does an engine become quieter and less polluting?

These and many other questions will be discussed within the scope of the study in the majors aircraft engineering, space technology, engine engineering and flight operations engineering. A department with a unique range of competencies and highly motivated lecturers awaits you for a demanding study program.

Карьерные перспективы по завершению программы обучения "Aerospace Engineering"

Graduates of the Aerospace Engineering degree program find their fields of activity according to the specialization:

  • in the national and international aerospace industry
  • for aircraft manufacturers
  • in the component and subsystem supply industry
  • for airlines
  • for airlines such as airlines and airport operators
  • with authorities and agencies
  • in many high technology sectors of mechanical engineering
  • in automotive technology

The task of the Bachelor is the implementation of knowledge from science and research into clear technical concepts and solutions.

In general, the following task areas in industry can be distinguished:

  • applied research in research institutes or industry
  • Design and Development
  • Construction (CAD) and calculation (FEM, MKS, CFD)
  • Technical Sales (consulting, customization, customer care, ...)
  • Production, Production Planning and Control
  • Experimental Design, Implementation and Evaluation
  • Maintenance and Operation of Aircraft and Equipment

Recently, the use of environmental simulation has increased, Product assurance, quality control and management added.

Ожидаемые результаты программы обучения "Aerospace Engineering"

Aerospace vehicles represent highly complex systems with their sub-areas. As a graduate of our department, you qualify not only for aerospace but also for large areas of industry. Automobiles, rail vehicles, even ships benefit from lightweight construction. Integrated systems, with the interplay of mechanical and electronic components, can be found in mechanical and plant engineering.

Стажировки и практика в программе обучения "Aerospace Engineering"

Practice is an enormously relevant part of our teaching. Students therefore have access to various opportunities to work “hands-on”. This means, for example:

  • In the course of your studies, various compulsory practical modules are completed within the semesters.
  • During their studies, students can fly themselves, take part in flights and be active in flight preparation.
  • There are exciting projects for both research and teaching that you can work on at an early stage.

The department has various facilities and laboratories in which students can work. Among other things:

  • Several of our own research aircraft and simulators
  • Small satellite communication using a self-configured ground station
  • Laboratories of various types (including vibration technology, electronics/electrical engineering, flow channels, vacuum chambers, drive/engine technology, virtual reality, etc.) to impart practical basic knowledge and enable experiments for practical and final theses

Учебный план программы обучения "Aerospace Engineering"

In the first four semesters you will take compulsory modules in the area of mathematical and scientific fundamentals (e.g. mathematics, physics, technical mechanics, electrical engineering and thermodynamics).

In the fifth and sixth semesters, you will specialize in one of the 4 specializations with associated elective modules in aerospace engineering.

You can choose one of the following specializations:

  • Aircraft Construction (FZB)
  • Engine technology (TWT)
  • Space technology (RFT)
  • Flight Operations Technology (FBT)

In the seventh semester, the exclusively practical part of the course begins and you complete a practical project and your bachelor's thesis.

FH Aachen University of Applied Sciences

It's the 21st century, aerospace technology with its interdisciplinary and innovative research fields has had a decisive influence on our lives today and will certainly change our future lives to an even greater extent.

Among other things, aerospace technology explains and develops answers and solutions to important questions of future mobility, such as:

    • Why does an airplane fly, why doesn't a car (yet!)?
    • How do satellites change their orbits and which propulsion systems make this possible?
    • How can satellites be of help to the global climate?
    • How can aircraft, spacecraft or vehicles be made even safer and more reliable?
    • How can an engine be made quieter, more efficient and more eco-friendly?
    • Which innovative materials will be used to build future aircraft or spacecraft, and can these materials also further evolutionary developments within other areas of mobility, such as the automotive industry?

Nowadays, many achievements in aerospace technology have already been incorporated into other engineering disciplines - especially into modern automotive technology.
Some process definitions in the development of modern automobiles and their components, such as fault tree analyses (FTAs), have their origins in aerospace engineering and are indispensable components in quality and safety management.
Nowdays, it would be unthinkable to imagine modern automobiles without materials such as GFRP, CFRP and aluminium. Some core competences, goals and achievements in aerospace technology, as well as in vehicle and drive technology, therefore go hand in hand.
Accordingly, it makes sense that our faculty combines both fields of competence, because learning together also means learning from each other.

In close cooperation with strong partners from industry and commerce, the faculty develops the future of mobility - on the road, in the air, or in the vastness of space.

The degree programmes combine profound basic knowledge and expert knowledge with a strong practical orientation.
Decide for yourself which specialisation will help you steer your future in the right direction, and, in addition, individualise your studies with numerous options.

Take advantage of our international contacts and industrial cooperations, if need be, for a semester abroad at one of our numerous partner universities or for introductory work placements - worldwide.

Get off to a flying start with us - the Faculty of Aerospace Engineering looks forward to welcoming you!
