Описание программы обучения "Art and Visual Science"

The course teaches interdisciplinary core competencies in the systematic analysis of visual artifacts (pictures, objects, buildings, etc.) from a period from antiquity to the present. In addition to the structured knowledge of facts and methods from the subjects of art history and classical archeology, there are professional qualifications in the areas of media literacy, museum studies, art trade and monument preservation, which are taught in a wide range of more practice-oriented modules.

The art and visual sciences course qualifies students to switch to consecutive master's courses in the major subjects involved, art history and classical archeology, as well as to switch directly to a professional position. The ability to think across disciplines, to link between different areas of knowledge and to analyze different cultural groups, imparted by the course, opens access to fields of activity, for example in museums and monument preservation, in cultural management, in cultural journalism and tourism, as well as in cultural public relations.

As part of the 2-subject bachelor's program, which ends with the academic degree "Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)", art and visual sciences can be studied as an expanded major, minor or additional subject.

Knowledge of Latin is essential in the advanced major. If these are not available at the start of the course, they can be made up by taking university courses within the university.
