At this interface between business and communication, the course imparts a broad spectrum of application-oriented social science, economic and design skills. The focus is on the analysis, planning and conception of measures in the areas of PR, social media, events, advertising and sustainability communication.

Business communication – the face of the company

Anyone who appears in public needs a voice, a face and an authentic style. Companies are no different from people. In order to present a company appropriately to its employees and the public, communication professionals are needed. They plan the company's appearance and give it a distinctive identity.

Develop communication concepts

Communication professionals don't just write. They organize press conferences and general meetings that inform the media or investors about the company's development. They write speeches for the board of directors and design multimedia campaigns. They conduct market research and are also responsible for monitoring the communication budget. They determine how the public, customers and employees see a company and its products and then implement this concept. The Business Communication degree program at the HTW Berlin will provide you with the theoretical specialist knowledge and practical know-how you need for this.

Versatile knowledge for a wide range of tasks

The variety of tasks that await you in the working world is also reflected in the wide range of course content. For example, you will learn how to creatively manage communication processes in companies and deal with the various instruments of business communication. You will gain an insight into marketing planning and deal with the marketing tools. In numerous exercises, you will apply your theoretical knowledge in practice. For example, you will create advertising clips, write blogs or design events.

Internal corporate communication: Only those who trust their employer and feel involved in the processes and decisions remain motivated and committed to their company. From intranet articles to internal company magazines - there are numerous ways to structure communication with employees.

Studying business communication also prepares you for numerous other professional fields that require communication skills as well as economic background knowledge, e.g. activities in the advisory, conceptual or creative environment of communication agencies, in specialist journalism, in communication management for non-profit organizations or in cultural or event management.
