Business Information Systems at KIT is characterized by a real interdisciplinarity based on a cross-faculty model. The course contents of the first four semesters are organized in five main areas:
- Economics computer science: Basic concepts of business informatics, concepts and systems for digitization on the levels individual, group, organization and market
- Computer science: Basic Terms of Computer Science, Programming, Algorithms, Theoretical Basics, Communication and Data Management, Applied Computer Science, Software Engineering
- Mathematics: Linear Algebra, Analysis, Development of Mathematical Models, Descriptive Statistics, Probability Theory, Elements of Estimation and Test Theory
- Economics: Business Administration (Marketing, Production, Finance and Accounting), Operations Research and Economics
- Law: Fundamentals of the Civil Code, Public Law, Commercial Law
The specialization covers the 5th and 6th semester and aims to deepen and apply the knowledge. Karlsruhe Institute of TechnologyComputer science in Karlsruhe can already look back on a long and successful tradition. More than 40 years ago (1972) Germany's first faculty of computer science was founded here. A few years earlier, the first computer science study program at the former University of Karlsruhe (TH) started. Since then, the current KIT faculty has grown steadily. Thousands of students have completed computer science studies, more than one thousand young scientists have earned their doctorate here and a variety of computer science innovations have their origins in the research groups of the KIT Faculty of Computer Science. A development that also continued in 2015.
