Программа обучения Civil Engineering

Программа обучения "Civil Engineering" в University of Stuttgart

Bauingenieurwesen

Civil engineers build residential buildings, industrial buildings or trade fair and sports centers. They plan water and wastewater systems that, for example, provide us with modern living comfort. Tunnels and bridges they create overcome natural boundaries. Transport systems connect districts, regions and entire continents. Studying civil engineering is as varied as these areas of responsibility.

Карьерные перспективы по завершению программы обучения "Civil Engineering"

With a bachelor's degree, you are qualified to work and can work, for example, at construction companies, engineering offices or public institutions such as municipal utilities and civil engineering authorities. There you build training and company buildings, bridges, road networks or airports or manage projects for the supply of drinking water and disposal of dirty water.

Civil engineers build and construct structures, e.g.

  • Schools, residential complexes, company buildings
  • Tunnels, bridges, dams
  • Subway lines, road networks, airports
  • and much more.

Each building must be planned and implemented individually. To do this, civil engineers create, for example, static calculations and construction plans. To ensure that each individual structure meets the respective requirements, there is a lot to take into account: What loads (applied pressure) are there? Which materials should be used and how do they behave? How is fire protection guaranteed? What signs of wear and aging can be expected? Every construction project brings with it new challenges for which new and creative solutions must be found.

Civil engineers work at:

  • Construction company
  • Engineering or appraisal offices
  • Companies for prefabricated parts and building materials
  • State authorities & Offices (e.g. civil engineering authorities, municipal utilities, regional councils, ministries)
  • Transportation companies (e.g. Deutsche Bahn AG, airports)
  • Real estate development or management companies
  • Manufacturers of specialist software
  • Research institutions (universities, Fraunhofer Institutes, Max Planck Society)

In the private sector, you can advance to team, project or construction management – or even to management or the board. In the public service, you can work your way up to department management, department management or construction mayor. The path to science with research and teaching is also open to them. Anyone who would like to work in other countries also has the best conditions. Many companies are looking for engineers who want to work abroad.

Международный обмен по программе обучения "Civil Engineering"

Stays abroad are a good opportunity to develop personally during your studies. You get to know new countries, cultures and people and gain valuable experience. The special thing about the Civil Engineering course is the exchange with the University of Calgary in Canada.

Учебный план программы обучения "Civil Engineering"

In the first three semesters you will learn the basics. Sometimes that also means: persevere! The basic training in “Higher Mathematics” or “Technical Mechanics” is intensive and a challenge for many students. To prepare for this demanding course content, you can use the offerings of the MINT college.

Once you have worked through the basics of the first semester, the course content becomes increasingly subject-specific and application-oriented. In the 4th to 6th semesters, the focus of your training is on imparting basic technical knowledge in the areas of "constructive engineering", "modeling and simulation methods", "water and environment"and "" Transportation”. Here you will acquire additional knowledge and can choose from different modules.

Faculty 2: Civil and Environmental Engineering
    University of Stuttgart

Civil and environmental engineers shape the environment, use resources and produce durable goods that need to be operated, maintained and renewed at the end of their useful lives over long periods of time. Human health, environmental impact, aesthetics as well as the profitability of constructions and life cycle assessments are in conflict with the technical realization and the use of systems. Civil and environmental engineering are characterized by the great breadth and heterogeneity of their fields of work. They are characterized by diverse interdisciplinary cooperation with other engineers, mathematicians, computer scientists, natural scientists, legal scholars and economists. Our faculty consists of 14 institutes with 21 chairs and over 400 employees. We offer basic German-language bachelor's and master's courses, English-language master's courses and three extra-occupational further education courses. Depending on their subject, graduates can take part in a graduate school, a binational graduate college or an international doctoral program. In research, the faculty is involved in several special research areas. For two of them (SFB 1244 Adaptive Shells and Structures for the Built Environment of Tomorrow and SFB 1313 Interface-Driven Multi-Field Processes in Porous Media - Flow, Transport and Deformation) the respective speakers are professors of the faculty.
