Описание программы обучения "Electrical Engineering and Information Technology"

The program combines knowledge of specialist and methodological fundamentals with options to select individual areas of specialization. The core course content covers electrical engineering, information technology, mathematics and physics, as well as the area of signals and systems. This core is complemented by chosen modules offering in-depth knowledge of, for example, electromobility, biomedical engineering, aerospace engineering, nanoelectronics, robotics, or computer engineering. Students thus acquire a broad repertoire, enabling them to keep pace with the continuously changing demands of electrical engineering.

A further central aspect of the program is the interdisciplinary integration of other areas of specialization, such as computer science or mechanical engineering. Moreover, the bachelor's program in Electrical Engineering and Information Technology cultivates social skills and complements specialist and methodological knowledge with initial work experience in the engineering sector.

Карьерные перспективы по завершению программы обучения "Electrical Engineering and Information Technology"

Upon completion, the bachelor's program in Electrical Engineering and Information Technology opens up job opportunities in research and product development. In addition, you can take up a managerial position or find employment in sales and marketing. Further opportunities are to be found in the telecommunications sector, mechanical engineering and vehicle manufacturing.

Ожидаемые результаты программы обучения "Electrical Engineering and Information Technology"

As a graduate you are qualified in equal measure for embarking on a career or for further education in the sciences. You are able to deal independently, or as part of a team, with complex technical and professional challenges. In addition, you have a command of the mathematical, natural scientific and engineering foundations of your discipline and can apply these in a structured manner to practical problem solving. Your capabilities allow you to develop digital, electrical and electronic circuits, systems and products. These you are able to model, simulate, test and integrate using various procedures.

Furthermore, you have developed a consciousness of the ethical, ecological, commercial and industrial effects of your activities. You take responsibility for decisions, work in an interdisciplinary manner and develop products tailored to the demands of the global market.

Стажировки и практика в программе обучения "Electrical Engineering and Information Technology"

Students are required to complete 9 weeks of industrial experience during their studies at TUM.

Учебный план программы обучения "Electrical Engineering and Information Technology"

The bachelor's degree in electrical engineering and information technology is divided into two study sections. In the first part of the course, the first four semesters, students learn the basics from the following areas:

  • Electrical engineering (21 credits)
  • Mathematics (32 credits)
  • Physics (24 credits)
  • Signals and systems (26 credits)
  • Information technology (17 credits)

The basic and orientation test gives all prospective students the opportunity to orientate themselves on the basis of subject-specific content. Students thus also demonstrate that they have acquired the essential basics. Passing the exams within the first and second semester is a prerequisite for continuing your studies. A successfully passed basic and orientation test is an excellent indicator of academic success. In this way, students get clarity about the requirements of the professional field during their first year of study. Students who are not successful in the basic and orientation test have to leave the course.

Based on the experience and in close cooperation with student representatives, the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology has restructured the compulsory area in the basic course. The breakdown was updated for the 2018/19 winter semester. The learning and application of programming skills now extends over the entire basic course from computer technology to algorithms and data structures to signals. The physical basics have been newly compiled and physically-related modules have been adapted accordingly. The triad of circuit theory, system theory and signal theory gives students a systemic application framework beyond the limits of electrical engineering and information technology. In the fourth semester, the specialist modules cover the spectrum of electrical engineering and information technology to enable an informed choice of focus.

After the basics, the second part of the course follows. In the 5th and 6th semesters, students deepen their knowledge from the first semesters. Services from the following areas are to be provided:

  • Engineering practice (12 credits)
  • Soft Skills (6 credits)
  • Bachelor thesis (12 credits)
  • individual specialization modules (30 credits)

In total, students earn 180 credits during their studies.
