The internationally oriented and predominantly English-language Bachelor's degree in Liberal Arts and Sciences offers students a broad, interdisciplinary academic education that enables them to focus on the humanities, social sciences, natural sciences and technical sciences. In particular, the students are trained in flexible, interdisciplinary thinking and in the concrete application of the problem-solving strategies acquired in this way to complex interdisciplinary issues in research and practice. In the first two semesters, the course combines the teaching of basic academic skills with an introduction to the prerequisites and fundamentals of interdisciplinary work as well as the subject areas of three of the four specialization lines Culture and History, Governance, Life Sciences and Environmental and Sustainability Sciences. From the third semester onwards, students set their own priorities by choosing a line of specialization. In addition, the students can give their studies an individual profile in the higher semesters by taking responsibility for courses in different disciplines.
