The Master's degree program in German-language literatures focuses on German-language literature in all its breadth - from the early Middle Ages to the present day. Students analyze literary texts in their respective cultural, social and aesthetic contexts, taking current media and cultural studies issues as their starting point. These are supplemented by established literary studies parameters such as questions of genre, literary theory or social and scientific history.

The differentiated profile of the course serves to provide specific qualifications and concrete career preparation in relation to various fields of employment. In addition to a university career, possible careers include jobs in the media, publishing, journalism, in cultural institutions such as museums, theaters, libraries, cultural offices, as well as in communications departments and continuing education institutions in companies.
Учебный план программы обучения "German-language Literature"
The master's degree program "German-language literatures" is divided into a compulsory area, a profile area and an elective area.
- In the compulsory area, modules are taken on individual aspects and eras of literary history (older and newer German literature), on methodology or literary theory as well as on specific literary sociological and cultural studies issues.
- In the profile area, students choose their own areas of focus by choosing one of the five subject profiles
- Newer German literature
- Older German literature
- Gender & culture
- Theater & Media
- Intercultural Literature and Media Studies
- In the elective area, modules and courses from the Faculty of Humanities' range of courses can be taken according to preference and interest.
- At the end of the Master's program there is the final module, consisting of a colloquium, Master's thesis and oral final examination.
