German IT companies are globally active. The teaching content is aligned accordingly. You prepare specifically for an international working environment. Graduates of the Information Management course are at the end of the course able to identify problems, recognize the potential from corporate strategy to analysis, design and redesign of the business processes, the necessary organizational adjustments to the selection and design of the information systems independently implement application-oriented, independently to plan, develop and control.
They are able to do this
- actively designing management and IT decision-making processes in the company and economically justifying them against the background of constantly changing social, scientific and ethical findings and new developments.
- to combine strategic IT knowledge with business process, management and business knowledge and to recognize and evaluate the potential of new developments in information technology for the support of corporate goals and for the development of new business activities,
- convert the business strategy of the company or the institution into an IT strategy that supports the corporate strategy or opens up new strategic options for the company and represents them,
- assess the economic viability of IT investments compared to other financial investments (taking into account the respective risk),
- Manage and manage the company's IT function cost-efficiently over the entire life cycle as a portfolio in projects,
- to carry out and document projects in a scientific way of working,
- Comprehensive identification, analysis and evaluation of risks of IT-supported business processes and financial reporting taking into account security aspects (IT security) and legal framework conditions (IT law), as well as working out solutions,
- as an internal or external management consultant to optimize cross-departmental and cross-company business processes and reporting systems with regard to corporate goals and strategy, to represent them and to discuss and implement them with experts.

The "Information Management" course offers graduates a science and practice-oriented training that takes current developments into account and gives graduates access to management positions in information management in business and administration.
The implementation of new regulations that resulted from the misconduct of managers of well-known companies resulted in a significant expansion of the tasks of the operational IT functions compared to the traditional role of a technology-oriented internal service provider.
Current and practice-oriented contents of business informatics and information technology are imparted, which expand and go beyond the knowledge and skills acquired in the Bachelor's program.
The course aims in particular to impart the following general and personal qualifications:
- Interaction and integration skills: communication / feedback, presentation, moderation and team skills, especially in interdisciplinary teams (management and IT specialists) and management bodies
- The ability to actively operate necessary change processes within the framework of IT governance at all levels and taking into account the corporate culture (change management)
- The willingness to assume the responsibility of IT management towards the company as a whole (added value of IT, risk management) and to comply with the associated accountability (sense of responsibility)
- Analytical skills and thinking in contexts (e.g. in connection with management theory and information technology)
- Ability to research, structure and evaluate information, and to identify problems,
- General mastery of working techniques
The master's program with the two focal points It Manager and IT Specialist focuses on the need for project managers in IT-savvy companies with expertise, even at higher levels of responsibility.
