The job profile of a Information Systems graduate is extremely varied and versatile. It includes support of large, networked IT systems, application programming, systems analysis, further development and maintenance of existing software systems, design of new applications from current modules, business process reengineering, the planning and execution of large-scale IT projects, operations, support and expansion of computer networks, consulting in the area of information processing, training for staff and customers, web design and multi-media production.
Given the changes in communication culture through computers and the internet, and the related shortage of computer scientists and IT specialists, job opportunities both now and in the future are extremely good.

Graduates of this course should be able to analyze problems arising from specific practical questions in a way that is system-compatible, and to process them algorithmically in such a way that they can be made accessible for processing with a data processing system. To be able to do so, graduates must be proficient in systematic working procedures and approaches that have software development and applications as their core element. Logical thought processes, understanding of modeling methods, the ability to process formal knowledge, good communication skills and the ability to work in a team are also essential. In addition to this, the course aims to develop the students’ ability to master a very wide range of applications for computer science in industry and administration. As well as a comprehensive foundation in the subject, the degree program has a profile that is adapted to market requirements. In particular, the course is distinguished by its interdisciplinary approach, which integrates well-balanced, complementary elements of information systems, business studies and computer science.
The range of specialized electives on offer in the main part of the course gives students the opportunity to select courses that correspond to their interests and future career plans. The faculty adapts the choice of electives available to the current requirements each semester.
The integrated internship semester guarantees close contact with businesses, industry, trade and public institutions.
