Jurisprudence deals with the knowledge of the applicable law and the historical, social, economic, political and legal-philosophical foundations of the legal system. In the legal studies, the scientific methods and knowledge are imparted, which enable the application of the law. These are based on the principles of legal security, justice and truth.

Graduates of full legal studies beyond the above-mentioned classic legal professions find employment in the credit and insurance industry, with interest groups (associations) and churches, in science and education, in the media and publishing, as tax consultants, auditors or management consultants, managing directors and business unit managers, contract managers, mediators, consumer and debt advisors as well as in international organizations and courts or in the diplomatic service.

Ожидаемые результаты программы обучения "Jurisprudence"

The aim of the training is the so-called uniform lawyer. Through thorough training in all core areas of law and limited specialization in sub-areas, the unitary lawyer is able to work in the classic legal professional fields (judge, public prosecutor, lawyer, administrative lawyer) as well as beyond and take responsibility for economic ones to take on the social and political consequences of legal decisions. A full legal degree is mandatory for the classic legal professions.

The course begins with a basic course of three to four semesters, during which a course-related intermediate examination must be completed. This is followed by the main course, which lasts two to three semesters, and the focus area course lasting around two semesters.

Compulsory subjects are the core areas of civil law, criminal law, public law and procedural law, including references to European law, legal methods and the philosophical, historical and social principles (Section 5a, Paragraph 2, Clause 3 DRiG ).

There are three core areas:

  1. Civil law with associated procedural law
  2. Criminal law with associated procedural law
  3. Public law with associated procedural law.

There are also the basic subjects (e.g. legal history, general political theory, legal philosophy), the imparting of key qualifications (e.g. negotiation management, interviewing, rhetoric, dispute settlement, mediation, interrogation) and subject-specific foreign language skills.

Upon application, the academic degree of a qualified lawyer can be awarded after successfully passing the first examination.

The course is followed by a preparatory service (legal clerkship) of two years in several stations: at a regular court, at a public prosecutor's office, at an administrative authority, with lawyers and in a focus area chosen by the trainee lawyer ( Elective station), at the end of which there is the state examination (assessor examination). By passing the second state examination in law, qualification for judicial office and higher general administrative service is obtained.
