The university course is divided into a compulsory subject and a focus area. It prepares you for the First Legal Examination and aims to train the so-called unitary lawyer : You acquire all the knowledge and skills necessary for legal work, critical thinking and responsible legal action.
In the compulsory subject course you will be trained in all three areas of law:

In the focus area study you deal with topics that are of particular interest to you. It serves the early specialization of all students. However, this does not mean a determination for the later career.
Legal clerkship

This can be done at courts and public prosecutors, authorities, lawyers and notaries, but also partly abroad. He graduates with the Second State Examination . With it, the qualification for judicial office and higher administrative service is acquired. This is also a prerequisite for almost all other legal professions (in particular that of the lawyer).
The preparatory service can be performed in all federal states. Legal trainees receive maintenance allowance during their preparatory service, which ensures their livelihood.
Structure of the course
The learning material is conveyed through lectures and accompanied by working groups that practice the technique of solving legal cases in small groups.
