Robots, machine tools, motor vehicles and biomedical equipment – many technological achievements in today’s world are inconceivable without mechanics, electronics, and information technology working together smoothly.
For this reason, the study program in mechatronics is designed to be interdisciplinary, uniting the disciplines of mechanical engineering, electrical engineering and information technology. You will be educated as generalists capable of mastering complex technological processes in a holistic manner. Consequently, this study program is supported by the mechanical engineering faculty and the faculties of computer science, electrical engineering, and information technology.

The basis of the course is a two-year basic course, which comprises a balanced mix of modules from advanced mathematics, classic mechanical engineering, electrical and information technology and computer science. In order to achieve the Bachelor's degree after a total of three years, further modules from the areas of control and regulation technology, mechatronic components and software technology for production systems must be selected.
In the field of mechatronic components, the focus is on the integration of mechanics, electronics and software technology in order to design and develop intelligent modules, for example for production machines, robots or motor vehicles. The area of software technology for production plants focuses on the integration of computer science and production technology, with special attention to software technology for production modeling and simulation.
