The medical studies should enable them to be medically active and to be able to start a further education in medicine. For example, the Faculty of Medicine at Campus Essen defines the study objectives in its study regulations. Here, however, not only one aspect of the medical activity, the direct treatment of patients, is in the foreground. The medical profession can be practiced in many ways: we find doctors not only at the bedside, but also in science and research, public health service and industry.

All physicians undergo a course specified by the legislator in the licensing regulations, medical studies. During their studies, they receive a scientifically sound picture of human diseases and their therapy. The legislator avoids the definition of the profession of the doctor. This is changing with the development of medicine and the changing needs of society, so that there can not be a universally valid "profession of the doctor".

The Practical Year will take place after the Second Section of the Medical Examination. It starts in the second half of the months of May and November. The training is divided into training periods of 16 weeks each.
