Nutritional science is a scientific discipline that deals with scientific issues relating to nutrition, health, communication and consumption. The focus is on people.

Nutritional sciences are scientifically and biomedically founded and include economics, communication and social sciences. Research and application are interdisciplinary.

Nutritional science and trophology have been independent studies in Germany since the 1960s. The field has been established in Mönchengladbach since 1971.

In the winter semester 2016/17, the degree program in Nutritional Sciences, detached from Oecotrophology, will be further developed and focused even more on the fields of work in Nutritional Science.

The course prepares for the application of science in the world of life and work and creates the conditions for a master's degree.

Graduates can analyze processes and problems in the field of nutrition, health and consumption, can work out practical problem solutions and take non-technical references into account.

"Nutritional Sciences (M.Sc.)" is offered as a consecutive master's program.
