Программа обучения Physics

Программа обучения "Physics" в Technische Universität Dresden

Physik

Physics is concerned above all with the analysis of basic processes in our universe and their mathematical description. At the same time, it makes important contributions to the specific and innovative development of techniques and technologies in industry and to solutions for global problems such as environmental protection and energy consumption.

The programme develops students´ skills in experimental physics, incl. mechanics, thermodynamics, electricity and magnetism, optics, quantum physics, etc. and competences in theoretical physics, incl. electrodynamics, statistical physics, etc.

Карьерные перспективы по завершению программы обучения "Physics"

Physicists work in a wide variety of professional fields that require physical, analytical or problem-solving skills. For example, physicists work in numerous research institutions in industry or public institutions. Physicists can work in development or production departments in industry or at universities or colleges in Germany or abroad. In addition, physicists also work in industry or government, for which the physics degree serves as the basis and for which further specialist knowledge has been acquired through postgraduate studies and professional practice.

In contrast to the job description of many other courses, the graduates of the course are not restricted to a narrow subject area. Rather, the broad knowledge of the fundamentals of natural processes enables a quick introduction to neighboring disciplines (natural science, technology, medicine), among others. also in completely newly emerging areas of knowledge.

Международный обмен по программе обучения "Physics"

Would you like to spend a semester abroad? Semester abroad, internships or language courses - as a student you will definitely benefit from a stay abroad. You can improve your technical and language skills, make contacts, make friends, get to know other cultures and much more.

Учебный план программы обучения "Physics"

The bachelor's degree in physics has a modular structure and is designed for 6 semesters.

1./2. semester

In the first two semesters of the course, students acquire knowledge of experimental physics. The basics of mechanics, thermodynamics, electrodynamics and optics are dealt with.

In the module computational methods of physics and theoretical mechanics an introduction to the systematic way of thinking and formal theoretical description of physical processes and facts takes place. Within the methodical training, basic skills in systematic experimentation and abstraction, in concept formation and theory development as well as in setting up hypotheses and testing them experimentally are acquired.

In addition, the mathematical basics for theoretical physics are taught. To prepare for professional practice, basic experimental skills and programming skills are a focus of the training in the first year of study. In addition, courses for acquiring key qualifications must be attended (science communication, language training, sport, etc.).

3rd / 4th semester

The second part of the study focuses on the basics of the description and treatment of waves and quanta as well as atomic and molecular physics within the framework of experimental physics. The training in theoretical physics first includes classical electrodynamics. In the quantum theory module, quantum effects are described below and their clear interpretation is carried out. In addition, a non-physical elective subject is taken in the 3rd and 4th semester, whereby you can choose between chemistry, electronics, computer science or philosophy. In basic internships, the basic knowledge acquired in experimental physics is deepened and expanded.

5th / 6th semester

In the third year of study, in addition to training in modern solid state physics, there is also an introduction to particle and nuclear physics. In the Thermodynamics and Statistics module, basic theoretical concepts from statistical physics are used to convey the main principles of thermodynamics and describe the properties of many-body systems. Further modules of the physics course in the last part of the course include the deepening of quantum theory as well as the treatment of complex physical phenomena with numerical methods. Building on this, experiments from all research areas in the field of physics are to be carried out and evaluated in an advanced internship in the last section of the study.

The skills and knowledge acquired are specifically applied as part of the specialization in a physical subject (theoretical physics, solid state physics, nuclear and particle physics, applied physics, biophysics). For this purpose, the students work in an institute specializing in physics and work independently on a selected physical question.

At the end of the course, the Bachelor thesis is written.
