The BSc Psychology 25% (Begleitfach) offers a broad overview of central basics and theory traditions of psychology as well as a deeper insight into the selected as focus areas of basic and application subjects. The study attaches particular importance to the broad transfer of theoretical and methodological basic knowledge, which facilitates the understanding of the selected subdividies of psychology. The occupational relevance of the supplementary studies does not result in an independent form, but is subordinate to the occupational fields of the respective BSc major.

Учебный план программы обучения "Psychology as a supplementary subject"

The Begleitfach study includes a six-semester training, which is divided into three sections. The content of the first part of the study is subject-specific, while the contents of the second and third part of the study are taught within the framework of the comprehensive BSc program Psychology.

First Stage (1st and 2nd semesters):

The first part of the study serves as a theoretical and methodical basic education and aims to create a basic understanding of psychology as an empirical social science. Here, the focus is on the following contents:

  • Introduction to the thinking, research and argumentation structure of empirical psychology
  • Overarching Theory of Psychology
  • Content areas of general psychology and other basic areas (such as developmental psychology, social psychology, differential psychology) in the sense of a "General Psychology"
  • Quantitative and Qualitative Methods of Psychology
  • Providing knowledge on the reception of psychological literature

Prerequisite for continuing your studies is passing the orientation exam, which takes place at the end of the first semester.

Second Stage (3rd and 4th semesters):

The second part of the study serves to broaden the acquired basic knowledge. Depending on their interests, students can select two areas of emphasis from the following six basic subjects:

  • General Psychology I (Perception, Learning, Memory, Language)
  • General Psychology II (Thinking, Problem Solving, Motivation, Emotion)
  • Developmental Psychology
  • Social Psychology
  • Differential Psychology
  • Biological Psychology

Third Stage (5th and 6th semesters):

The third part of the study provides knowledge about selected application fields of psychology. Again, depending on your interest, you can choose between two main areas from the following application fields:

  • Industrial and Organizational Psychology
  • Educational Psychology
  • Clinical and Health Psychology

One of the selected focus areas in the second and third stages of study is to be studied in-depth, while the other is to be acquired as an overview.
