1st year of study

The modules of the 1st year of study are dedicated to the acquisition of the essential questions and working methods of the subject: theory, history and analysis as well as theater and media practice. In the introductory module, basic knowledge of theater and media studies - topics, theories and methods as well as their historical dimensions - as well as basic techniques of scientific work (research, citation methods, etc.) are presented. In the basic modules of theater studies and media studies, you will get to know theoretical, analytical and historiographical issues and working methods, which are tested and practiced on specific objects in the thematic modules. The basic practical module gives an initial insight into the issues and working methods of the practical area at the ITM.

2nd year of study

In the second year of study, two historiographical lectures offer advanced knowledge about the development, aesthetics and repertoire of theater and media studies. The second historical introductory seminar also opens up the option of choosing a theater or media studies focus. The two project seminars in the practice module enable an intensive examination of topics from the entire spectrum of theater and media practice; Here, if necessary, your own as well as guided, practice-oriented projects can be implemented.

3rd year of study

The advanced and final stage of the 3rd academic year brings together the competencies acquired to date in two final modules, which should point the way to further academic qualification steps (M.A. studies) or to non-university fields of activity. The lecture research perspectives familiarizes the students with current research trends and subjects in theater and media studies, the advanced seminar research enables an intensive content-related and methodical examination of your subjects and introduces you step by step to the writing of the bachelor thesis. In the advanced module Practice, the practice-oriented work is deepened and critically reflected in the advanced seminar. The research questions seminar serves to find a topic or to critically accompany the writing process of the bachelor thesis.
