Academy of Fine Arts Munich

Akademie der Bildenden Künste München (Akademie der Bildenden Künste München)

Munich, Bavaria, Germany

The academy sees itself as a test laboratory, as a breeding ground for solutions that go beyond all conventions. Structurally, it stands between the intellectual-historical heritage that it has to administer, the art market and the individual's attempt to mobilize his creative powers for a successful life.

The course is organized in class groups. The academy accommodates twenty-five classes in total, led by professors who each have their own individual approach to the fine arts. These classes are supplemented by twenty excellently equipped study workshops and a large library, as well as seminars and lectures in art, philosophy and didactics. In addition, the cx center for interdisciplinary studies offers all students of the Academy of Fine Arts interdisciplinary courses in theory and practical project work on an annually changing topic.

Based on these three pillars – artistic criticism, technical learning and historical-theoretical orientation – the offer is expanded by over sixty teaching positions. All events are open to students of all disciplines, as are the numerous guest lectures, workshops and excursions. The current range of courses is presented in this study guide.
