The Berlin School of Popular Arts (formerly SRH Hochschule der populären Künste (hdpk)) is part of the SRH Berlin University of Applied Sciences, a private, state-recognized and accredited university in the heart of Berlin.

The five schools of the SRH Berlin University of Applied Sciences combine modern management and entrepreneurship, media and creative industries, technology and IT, music and sound design in modern study programmes.

All schools focus on practice-oriented project work in small teams, freedom for individual learning, and personal supervision by lecturers from the field.


The Berlin School of Popular Arts offers a competent and promising response to the diverse demands of the cultural and creative industries with German and English bachelor programmes in the fields of music production and audio design, media management and media design, creative writing and copywriting, creative industries management, as well as the master programmes experiential communication, media psychology and computing and the arts.

With its own music and AVM studios, DAWs, an audio cinema, a photo studio, its own radio studio, several design studios and a media psychology research laboratory, hdpk guarantees professional working conditions and a high degree of practical relevance.

Founded in 2009, the former University of Popular Arts (hdpk) has been part of SRH Holding, a non-profit foundation based in Heidelberg, since 2014. The shareholder is SRH Higher Education GmbH. The Berlin School of Popular Arts currently trains around 600 students from 30 nations for the creative sector.
