Dresden University of Applied Sciences

Hochschule für Technik und Wirtschaft Dresden (HTW-Dresden)

Dresden, Free State of Saxony, Germany
Dresden University of Applied Sciences (HTW Dresden) was founded in 1992. It is the second-largest university in the capital of the state of Saxony. Engineering, economics, design, and 'green' disciplines constitute the four pillars that the 40 forward-looking diploma, bachelor's, and master's degree programmes in civil engineering/architecture, electrical engineering, informatics, product design, machine engineering, and business administration are based on. These degree programmes include a number of subjects that are unique to post-secondary education in Saxony such as agriculture, horticulture, landscape planning and development, environmental monitoring and analysis, geoinformatics and surveying, as well as geoinformatics and cartography. With 8 faculties, approximately 170 professors, and about 5,000 students, the university is large enough to integrate the different disciplines successfully and generate a high synergistic effect. On the other hand, it is still manageable enough to facilitate personal dialogue in individual courses.

Teaching and research at the HTW Dresden are closely linked and highly practice-oriented. Students can participate in research projects at an early stage, benefit from close contacts with industrial partners and, in addition, have the opportunity to do their PhD in cooperative doctoral studies.

The research at the HTW Dresden is based primarily on the four profile lines Mobile Systems and Mechatronics, Sustainable Livelihoods, Information Systems, Corporate Governance and Foundation. With its application-oriented research, the university is an important partner especially for medium-sized companies in Saxony and very well connected with the numerous technology and research centers of Dresden as a science location.

The founding center of the HTW Dresden supports young start-ups from the environment of the university in the development and implementation of innovative business ideas and provides contacts to cooperation partners in business and industry.

In addition to excellent study conditions and a first-class education, our students in Dresden expect an environment with a high quality of life, art and culture, great leisure facilities and a beautiful landscape.

The degrees obtained at the HTW Dresden enjoy great recognition among companies as well as research and educational institutions. This is proven not only by current studies and university rankings, but above all by the successful placement of our graduates into practice.
