Founded in 2008 as HMKW – Hochschule für Medien, Kommunikation und Wirtschaft, Media University is a private, state-recognized institution with institutional accreditation from the German Council of Science and Humanities. All current degree programs are accredited by FIBAA or are undergoing accreditation. MU operates campuses in Berlin and Cologne and, since the 2016/17 winter semester, in Frankfurt am Main as well. Since summer 2020, the university has been part of the European university network ADE.

The university offers Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees across journalism and communication, management and business, design, psychology, and the humanities. A distinctive feature is its double-degree options such as “Visual Communication and Graphic Design,” “Public Relations and Digital Marketing,” and “International Marketing and Media Management,” equipping graduates with cross-disciplinary profiles valued by multiple industries.
