The Faculty of Linguistics, Literature and Cultural Studies at TU Dresden has been established in 1993. It currently comprises 26 chairs (including deputies). Including the Teaching Centre for Languages and Regional Studies as well as the Central European Centre for Political, Economic and Cultural Studies, the Faculty has around 190 academic employees. The academic staff is supported by 23 non-academic staff members. Currently, there are 4135 students enrolled in the courses of the Faculty.
The Faculty, along with four other faculties, forms the School of Humanities and Social Sciences. There is a particularly close cooperation with the Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Social Science. Subject-based and teaching-oriented courses of study and programmes with numerous combination options make the academic training at the Faculty attractive not only thanks to its close connection to ongoing research projects, but also to its strong focus on internationalisation. Strategic international partners of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences are e.g. the universities of Trento and Wrocław. The subjects represented at our Faculty offer basic study programmes for Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees as well as in the framework of State examination programmes. Interdisciplinary networking is a particular trademark of the Master’s Programme in European Languages (EuroS). With its long-standing heritage, TU Dresden’s theater 'die buehne' contributes to the rich profile of the Faculty. The Faculty pursues an active policy of equal opportunities, with both an above-average number of female chairs and with its gender studies and gender-responsive teaching.
