Film production managers manage the budget of a production in the film and television industry. They handle cost accounting, financial and payroll accounting and monitor compliance with the cost framework.

Responsibilities

Film managers regulate the financial and accounting processes of film and television productions. Together with the production and production management and the director, they plan and manage the budget, e.g. for material and personnel costs. During the production phase, they regularly determine current cost levels and deviations from the planned production costs. In addition, they acquire sponsorship and funding. A cashier supports them in large projects.

Film managers register those involved in a film project with health insurance companies, settle travel expenses as well as fees, wages or honoraria, and properly pay income tax, social security contributions and insurance premiums. After a production, they take over the final accounting and check whether the budget has been adhered to and all payments have been made.
