Media Pedagogue

Media educators introduce the responsible use of media. They develop didactic concepts, compile teaching materials and recommendations and carry out corresponding projects for various target groups and areas of application such as schools, day-care centers or training and further education institutes. In courses and seminars, for example, they teach students and parents how to use the Internet, or they train teachers in the sensible use of computers, films or educational software in the classroom.

As part of media projects, they shoot e.g. a film with children from a youth center. It can also be part of your job to adapt media for certain target groups. Media educators are also active in the editorial offices of print media and radio stations and, for example, make film recommendations.

Promote media literacy

The aim of media education is to promote media literacy among young people and adults. Media educators create e.g. Handouts for practical media work in youth clubs or day care centers, and possibly also at schools. You develop written and audiovisual materials on media education topics or publish film recommendations for teachers and parents. In personal advice, they inform and train e.g. Teachers regarding the sensible use of computers, films or educational software. They also organize training seminars and courses for educational, educational and cultural institutions.

Organize media projects

Media educators promote and support youth media groups at youth and children's meeting points, e.g. in the implementation of media projects. With the children or young people, for example, they work on video productions or design a website with them. The projects, which are implemented in teamwork, not only improve media educators' skills in dealing with the media, but also promote the social skills of the participants.

Create and rate media

The adaptation of media for certain target groups is also part of the task of media educators. For example, they translate texts on official sites into easy language for people with disabilities. In addition, they can also work in the editorial offices of print media and television and radio stations, where they publish film recommendations, for example.
