Развитие предметной области

Establishment and development of the field

Psychology established itself as a scientific discipline in the last third of the 19th century. During this time, a laboratory was set up at the University of Leipzig for the first time to examine psychological phenomena. Numerous universities then set up institutes for psychology and a large number of textbooks on this topic were published. With the 20th century, various basic currents of psychology emerged, including, for example, the psychoanalysis founded by Sigmund Freud and behaviorism, which focuses on behavioral analysis. Today psychology is divided into numerous specialist areas. Since the 1970s, the development of psychological processes in the brain and the functioning of these processes have been the focus of scientific attention.
