The architect's area of responsibility is the responsible conception, planning and implementation of buildings. In addition, the job description is increasingly being expanded to include the role of a mediator and holistic planner of a planning, design and construction process, who conceives, accompanies, monitors and is ultimately responsible for all areas of this process in both analog and digital form. Future questions will be dealing with existing buildings, the need for living space, especially living space, as well as reacting to demographic, socio-social, ecological and economic conditions regionally and internationally (> Master's program focus: “near and far”).
The complexity of the processes in the construction industry therefore requires the architect as a responsible generalist more urgently than ever; this includes in particular sensitive contextual design. Projects with added social value and a connection to the region form a focus.
For this purpose, the basics are laid in the bachelor's degree in architecture and the first profile focuses are set, which are continued in the master's degree in architecture.
The aim of the course is to enable students to act independently in the professional field of architecture through a practice-oriented, scientifically based and subject-specific basic training course. The students should acquire the prerequisites for exercising the profession according to the standards applicable in the Federal Republic of Germany and in the member states of the European Union. In addition, the students should have developed their own attitude towards architecture with critical expertise and technical knowledge as well as a sensitization for architectural design. You are thus able to expressly represent the complexity of the subject in a competent and responsible manner vis-à-vis society, the environment, culture and the principles inherent in the subject.
