The still young discipline of cognitive science is primarily concerned with the scientific study of the brain and mind, both experimentally and theoretically. Furthermore, it is about the explanation of human language and non-verbal behavior, the formation of artificial intelligent systems as well as the investigation of perception and motor skills. In terms of method, this marks out a field of tension that ranges from mathematical methods to psychological and neuroscientific experiments to computer models of mental processes and philosophical reflection.
