Con­ti­nuing a well-es­ta­blis­hed tra­di­ti­on of cul­tu­ral sci­en­ces in Lüne­burg, Leu­pha­na's Mas­ters pro­gram­me in Culture, Arts and Media en­ga­ges the di­sci­pli­nes of the hu­ma­nities and the so­ci­al sci­en­ces in an in­ter­di­sci­pli­na­ry dia­lo­gue. In­ves­ti­ga­ting re­se­arch ques­ti­ons wi­t­hin their his­to­ri­cal con­text and in all their di­sci­pli­na­ry com­ple­xi­ty, stu­dents are gi­ven the op­por­tu­ni­ty to come up with new an­s­wers and in­no­va­ti­ve ap­proa­ches whi­le in­ter­ac­ting with a num­ber of dif­fe­rent per­spec­tives.
The Mas­ters pro­gram­me in Cul­tu­ral Sci­en­ces – Cul­tu­re, Arts and Me­dia com­bi­nes over­lap­ping is­su­es from cul­tu­ral sci­en­ces and cul­tu­ral theo­ry with an ex­ten­si­ve ori­en­ta­ti­on and spe­cia­li­sa­ti­on in va­rious di­sci­pli­nes and sub­ject are­as re­le­vant to cul­tu­ral sci­en­ces. Stu­dents and teachers with dif­fe­rent di­sci­pli­na­ry back­ground work to­ge­ther in an in­ter­di­sci­pli­na­ry en­vi­ron­ment cha­rac­te­ri­sed by in­ten­si­ve re­se­arch on is­su­es which are in­tro­duc­to­ry, theo­re­ti­cal­ly ad­van­ced, for­ward-loo­king and his­to­ri­cal, re­le­vant to ever­y­day life as well as very fun­da­men­tal: How can the di­gi­tal chan­ge be un­ders­tood, and how can its chal­len­ges be en­coun­te­red? Which lo­gi­cal, rhe­to­ri­cal and aes­t­he­tic fea­tures dis­tin­gu­ish texts, and which or­ders of "know­ledge" do they im­ply? Which spe­ci­fic "know­ledge" is (re-)pro­du­ced by vi­su­al arts and cul­tu­ral fiel­ds cha­rac­te­ri­sed by vi­sua­li­ty? How can cul­tu­ral-his­to­ri­cal ac­ces­ses to pre­sent and past be un­ders­tood in the con­text of cul­tu­ral uphea­vals? What are the di­sci­pli­na­ry back­grounds for cul­tu­ral re­se­arch? The stu­dy pro­gram­me enables an in­di­vi­du­al pro­fes­sio­nal ori­en­ta­ti­on and spe­cia­li­sa­ti­on through the choice of an area of con­cen­tra­ti­on and a mi­nor. The Cul­tu­ral Sci­en­ces Area of In­te­gra­ti­on pro­vi­des a com­mon foun­da­ti­on for cul­tu­ral sci­en­ces. With the teaching re­se­arch pro­ject you rea­li­se an in­de­pen­dent re­se­arch-re­la­ted pro­ject un­der pro­fes­sio­nal gui­dance. The cross-di­sci­pli­na­ry com­ple­men­ta­ry stu­dies pro­gram­me sup­ple­ments and ex­pands sub­ject-spe­ci­fic con­tents with a per­spec­tive re­flec­ting on aca­de­mics and prac­tical ap­p­li­ca­ti­on. The va­rious elec­tive and com­bi­na­ti­on op­por­tu­nities in the Mas­ters pro­gram­me in Cul­tu­ral Sci­en­ces – Cul­tu­re, Arts and Me­dia enable an in­te­rest-dri­ven cour­se of stu­dies and cont­ri­bu­te towards a de­epe­ned un­der­stan­ding of so­ci­al­ly re­le­vant to­pics. Upon com­ple­ti­on of stu­dies you earn the Mas­ter of Arts (M.A.) de­gree.
