Hamburg University of Technology

Undergraduate Winter Semester

Digitization has changed our everyday lives massively since the introduction of the Internet. Milestones were the invention of digital photography and the development of modern smartphones, which have fundamentally changed our communication channels and forms. The field of data science has developed from these social developments from mathematical statistics and computer science and has become a key technology in science, industry and in everyday life for most people.

A data scientist works in an environment in which a lot of data is generated (e.g. logistics, medicine, energy technology, automotive industry) and is responsible for evaluating it, processing it algorithmically and extracting features from it. The data scientist works in a research-related manner and is therefore always up to date on new developments in the rapidly developing field. Due to the high proportion of IT in the course, the graduates of the course are familiar with all the rules of software design, so that most of the career opportunities of classical IT specialists are open to them.

The bachelor's degree qualifies you for a job and enables you to continue your studies in several master's programs.
