In the bachelor program FILM & SOUND, students are trained to design and realize film projects. For this purpose, students working as filmmakers and sound designers collaborate on audio-visual projects in two parallel study focuses.
The students of the BA program FILM & SOUND are trained in design, technical, scientific and basic key competences to the extent that they are involved in film projects in the fictional and documentary field, but also in experimental and commercials, as well as in audio-visual forms of scenographic concepts as a creative team member can contribute professionally.
In addition to the focus on film with a focus on directing, camera, montage and production, the program also offers training as a film sound designer / film producer with original sound recording, field recording, sound editing, sound design, and Foley ADR, up to the mixing preparation. The curriculum for this major field of study includes modules from the Folkwang University of the Arts Institute for Computer Music and Electronic Media (ICEM) for conducting seminars in music history, acoustics, sound synthesis and electronic composition.
There is a film studio, 160 m2 - 8m high / Greenscren, analog and digital cameras (up to 4k resolution), lighting and sound, editing systems, color correction (Da Vinci), sound editing studios (stereo and surround) and a 5.1 cinema Auditorium (2K DCP) available.
The study of the 7-semester bachelor program FILM & SOUND concludes with the Bachelor of Arts examination.
The degree program was started in 2012 as a successor to the degree program "Film / Television (Camera)", which has been established in the FH Dortmund since the 1990s.
